Whitby Town fell to a 3-0 defeat against Matlock Town yesterday afternoon in the BetVictor Northern Premier.
The Seasiders came into the game on the back of eight straight victories, however this run was halted in emphatic style against the Gladiators.
Chris Hardy felt that there wasn’t actually much between the two sides on the game, but he will have to assess how the score became as one sided as it did.
“We’ll have to analyse how the game became so stretched,” Hardy revealed.
“We’ll also analyse how we allowed them to get their tails up in the game and how we arrived at a 3-0 scoreline.
“The best way I can put it is that there was too much naivety from us in the game.”
Given the Blues’ recent form, Hardy and his management team would have been even more disappointed with the manner of this defeat.
And us much the deficit perhaps flattered Matlock, it doesn’t make nice reading for the Whitby faithful.
“It isn’t a nice scoreline,” said Hardy.
“We had six clean sheets in the previous six games to that told its own story about how we’ve been playing.
“With games like this we know that if we’re not on top and winning duals then defeats like this can happen.”
Another negative for the side was losing their captain, Dale Hopson, right on the stroke of half time due to injury.
The player himself has revealed that he will make the trip to hospital to have his concern looked at.
“Dale’s injury is a great concern,” Hardy stated.
“He’ll be looked at over the next 24 hours and we’ll try to understand the full extent of the injury.
“We also had Luke Bythway’s injury which told its own story as he’s hard as nails and even he was in pain.”
