The draw has been made for the First Qualifying Round of this season’s Emirates FA Cup.

However, Whitby Town will have to wait a little longer to find out who their opponents will be with Widnes and Mossley being forced to a replay next week.

With both sides playing just one division below the Seasiders, Chris Hardy knows that his side can expect a tricky time on the road.

“The fact that they are only in the league below us suggests that we’re in for a very difficult fixture,” Hardy stated.

“We’ll go there as favourites but through my experience this is a really difficult draw.

“Ultimately the only way we can get through is to win the game of football.”

The manager admits that everything will come down to what happens on the day in the North West.

He will be hoping that past season’s results will be put to rest and this can be the fresh start.

“You can put in various aspects but we simply have to be better than our opponents,” Hardy admitted.

“We have to navigate this fixture to make sure that we’re in the draw.

“As I said, the only thing we can do is win the game of football on the day.”

As in the past, Hardy likes to put out strong teams for cup games and this will be no exception.

He will be hoping that the club can be rewarded with that in the prestigious competition.

“We will go as strong as we can,” Hardy said.

“The dilemma we’ve got is whether or not we can progress in the competition.

“We want to be in the draw for the next round.”
