Whitby Town suffered their first defeat of pre-season as they went down 3-0 to Northern League Division One side, Stockton Town.
Proceedings got off to the worst possible start at Bishopton Road West as the hosts scored after just four minutes.
Kevin Hayes was free at the back post to slide home James Risborough’s low ball into the box from the left.
If the start to the game wasn’t disastrous enough, the second half began in an even worse fashion as Stockton were awarded a penalty.
David McTiernan had brought down Mikey Roberts on the edge of the area resulting in Christopher Keightley pointing to the spot.
The former Blues striker, Roberts would step up himself to send Shane Bland the wrong way from 12 yards.
The Seasiders showed some form of reaction to going two down, but lacked any cutting edge in the final third.
Things were made worse just as the referee was about to blow the full time whistle.
Mikey Roberts managed to catch Lee Bullock in possession leaving Shane Bland stranded with three attackers running at him.
Roberts squared the ball to Joe Smith who couldn’t miss from six yards into an open goal.
